DON’T PLAY POLITICS……….PERHAPS!

Perhaps the leadership of Murfreesboro did not realize what a gigantic load of embarrassing fallout would take place over a claim of “Eminent Domain” or over their decades-old failure to correct the flooding problems in Palmer Heights, Regency Park and Regenwood.

The City of Murfreesboro needs to rework its Mission Statement! Mainly, because from homeowners standpoint, the current Mission Statement is incomprehensible babble.

Perhaps the Mayor and City Manager should hold a meeting with the Greenway Committee, Planning Department, and Engineering Department and ask the hard questions such as:

Whose bright idea was it to alter the Greenway Master Plan in an attempt to capture the McCurrys house and property?

Why has nothing be done to upgrade the entire Stormwater drainage system in Palmer Heights, Regency Park, and Regenwood?

NOTE: The City Planning Director, Joseph Aydelott, stated publicly that he has held onto “boxes and boxes and stacks of pictures and documentation since 2002” concerning the drainage/flooding issues of Palmer Heights and the property now applying for Commercial Highway rezoning. (Really………11 years?)

Homeowners are still in disbelief their tax dollars are being used to benefit/assist the improvement of privately owned land so it could be rezoned for commercial development! $425,000.00 of the Stormwater Fee Fund has been appropriated to improve drainage and help the property owners/developers avoid being responsible.  Should the property owners not be held accountable?

There is another type of storm brewing in this city and it has nothing to do with the weather.  Continually, homeowners are coming forward and speaking out on what the City of Murfreesboro and its elected officials have failed to do.

So, dare we ask:  WHEN IS ENOUGH…..ENOUGH?
